What People Say About Them
Exec Producer: "James worked on the production for a 4 week period embedded with the ambulance service, on a returning prime time network obs doc series. He produces with a light touch, quickly gaining his contributors' trust with his affable manner, and getting the most from them in very tough situations. He was very good on the ethical and legal compliance issues of filming frontline medical cases and had a high number of patient consents. He shoots well, with good coverage and I would happily have him back on the team."
Alex Masters, Assistant Producer: "James is an asset to any team; considerate, motivated, creative, dedicated, empathetic and patient. Capable of making a connection with anything and anyone, it is always a joy to work with him and I relish every opportunity."

James has carved out a niche as one of those PDs who can make a sports documentary feel like a feature film: cinematic, emotional, and grippingly human. He thrives in fast-moving, high-stakes environments, whether embedded with athletes in the Tour de France or following paramedics on the frontline. His directing style is calm but assured, earning trust quickly and drawing out real emotion from contributors who might otherwise stay guarded. He’s fluent in multiple languages, which makes him a natural at navigating international shoots and building rapport across cultures. A stickler for story but never precious about process, James brings both creative flair and production discipline. James is thoughtful, collaborative, and quietly ambitious and exactly the kind of PD who makes tough shoots look effortless.
