What People Say About Them
Exec Producer: "It was a real pleasure working with Mark Drake on The Taste Test Restaurant, where he served as Series Director. Mark is a highly creative and diligent professional who brings both vision and precision to his work. He took full ownership of designing the shoots and developing detailed shoot plans for what was a particularly complex production — involving sixteen diners, multiple talent, and a fully operational restaurant environment. Mark handled the many moving parts with impressive calm and clarity, maintaining control under pressure while ensuring every element contributed to the high production values of the series. Mark’s creative direction was outstanding. His ability to translate ambitious ideas into engaging, beautifully executed television elevated the look and feel of the entire series. The care and craft he brought to each shoot were instrumental in achieving its distinctive tone and polish. Equally, Mark’s leadership style is collaborative and supportive. He works exceptionally well with both crew and talent, fostering a positive, motivated, and productive atmosphere on set. His calm, confident approach ensures that everyone feels valued and focused, even in the most demanding circumstances. I would be delighted to work with Mark again and can recommend him wholeheartedly for any future Series Directing Roles."
Joe Wildman, Exec Producer: "I’ve worked with Mark across several series. He’s very creative, plans things through in detail, stays calm under pressure, and is a clear, strong leader with his team."
Creative Director: "Mark is very creative, he was directing huge one off stunt style challenges and had to embed himself in a an existing team on a returning format. He did this brilliantly, gave each of the challenges their own distinct style, was adaptable (even with last minute changes) and lead the team very well."
The Human Behind The CV
Mark Drake is a Plastic Scouser and self-confessed televisual polyglot; he's a lover of film, comedy and creative chaos (the good kind). Before entering the world of unscripted, he trained as a broadcast journalist and cut his teeth as a clapper loader on Hollywood feature films. Since then, he’s made just about every kind of factual TV under the sun (often while lobbing someone, or something, out of a helicopter...)
He’s received BFI funding for his short films, earned a place on the Sundance London Shorts programme, and was recently selected for Directors UK’s ‘Inspire’ cohort, mentored by comedy legend Matt Lipsey.

Mark’s the guy you call when your shoot has a hundred moving parts and zero room for error. He’s not just calm under pressure; he practically thrives on it. Whether wrangling a 16-person dinner scene in a working restaurant or steering complex multicam setups, Mark makes the ambitious feel achievable without ever breaking a sweat.
He’s also a strong creative force, and a natural instinct for coverage: shaping bold ideas into standout moments without letting style drown out story, and an eye for the kind of visuals that elevate factual entertainment into something genuinely polished.
On set, he leads with clarity and confidence, keeping teams tight and talent feeling supported. He brings focus, structure and a healthy dose of humanity to every production.
